This conflict is very hard to understand if we do not consider that Palestine is a region whose decolonization is still pending. It is the only case around the world in that condition and, in general terms, that comes from since the United Kingdom decided change the "statu quo" of the native population: the Palestinians. Palestine was administrate by the United Kingdom after the World War I and since the creation of the Israel state on May 15, 1948 the ethnic and religion conflict has been permanent during 60 years.
Since that date ethnic cleaning of Palestinian territories had been the political objetive of Israel because they want to have a Jewist state, that's why for Israel is needed the eradication of the native Arab population. The wars of Israel with their neighbors are justified in the creation of the state of Israel, it means to take all the territories that before belonged to the Palestinians, specially the Cisjordania (West Bank) territory. The many differences between a sectarian and racist state with an exclusionary ideology (zionism) and with a superior military capability like Israel make impossible to share the territory with Arab and people of other faiths. That make impossible the creation of a bi-national state.
Israel wants to expand their territory and do not respect neither international law nor the United Nation' resolutions and they based their arguments in national security reasons. In 1967 after the six days war Israel took the total territories of Palestine, including the Eastern part of Jerusalem and established the Jewish sttlements in Cisjordania (West Bank) and Gaza, based in Old Testament texts, not recognized by the international laws. This conflict make impossible the Palestinians people their right to live with sovereignty and freedom in their own land. The Palestinians in Cisjordania (West Bank) are living under occupation and the rest of Palestinians are living in a virtual concentration camp in Gaza that is known like the greater extent prison of the world. There is a million and a half Palestinians prisoners in 300 square kilometers because Israel controls the land, sea and airspace access. That is the reality of Gaza today. Israel has institutionalized the apartheid and it has also build walls to expropriate more Palestine territories in Cisjordania (West Bank) that make more difficult the life for the Palestinian people.
With this scenario arise Islamic protest movements like Hamas that use force to maintaining resistance in front of Israel occupation. The strategy of Hamas is terrorist attacks because of the dire socioeconomic conditions caused by the Israel blockade. This is and old problem that has survived until our days and this situation will not be solved if the involved parts do not believe in dialog and do not leave that the religion is just an individual decision of every human being.

The present reading is related about “How to Safe Gaza” as a effort to create conscious among us and how one English student perceive and comment aspects positives and negative from this reflection.
Reading this article about war in GAZA, first of all it brings me a lot of sadness because despite of many wars and conflicts in the past that supposed to taught us many learned lessons, it seems to be, that nothing works. How many wars do we have to live to learn anything?
Overlapping the first paragraph according Costa Rica reality, it is so common to protest for anything which annoying us, but inclusive attempting against main human rights for example, free mobilization. Lecture proposed instead of claims and international protest from worldwide, to do a specific action (the how)…demilitarization!!. Costa Rica is a good model to follow up, because we have demonstrated through time that a country without militia could life and survive. Militia represents wastes, expenditures, and latent risk that wars may come any moment.
As a population GAZA has many disadvantages, governance is a illusion, it doesn’t exist, so, leadership is in charge of Hamas, who only interest is win through war, exploit it, no matter deaths, and human beings cost. There is no intention to finish this cruel conflict, and as a smokescreen Hamas try to address attention to Israel issues.
Hamas’s Selfish goes more how to harm Israel instead of Gazans safety and help. In this case if Israel could ignore the behavior of Hamas and decides for ceasefire for the innocent lives lost, but it would be like accepting that Hamas is right. And beside Israel has put in perspective, that deaths from Gazans is Hamas’s faulty, and this kind of interpretation doesn’t help to balance and reconsider to stop this slaughter.
Fortunately, any crisis permit that something good happens, and a shy beginning has started with Abas, who is coaching Hamas in the way to be more intelligent against Israel bombardment and finally Hamas is starting to listen carefully some advises from him.
Some Israeli concerns is not to be flexible with Egyptians Boundaries which allow arms traffic in that strategic zone, meanwhile, Hamas has opened his mind, and evaluate acceptance about some demands and put some requirements on negotiations table. This is a good sign that people might create a confident environment of conversations.
Some conclusions that I would like to remark after this reading are:
1. International conflicts (mainly in middle west) have had long story of attacks and clashes.
2. Politics disagreements is one of the most root causes of this conflicts,
3. Men every time have to be in fights and wars as a part of their culture and DNA,
4. Always hope appear at unsuspected moment.
5. Communication issues navigate as satellites in all conflicts.
6. Demilitarization (no violence in general ) is the first step to achieve peace at least to start to build it.

ResponderBorrarAccording with this article they have five scenarios and some solutions and I imagine that many people can find ones more, but the real people and governments involve in this situations do not have any interest in fix it.
For this article I have a sad response "No nothing to do". While the people who must have en front of these countries, do not want to do their part, it will continue in the same way or worse, and thousands of innocent people will die every day.
The cruel reality is when the human has the power to chance lives and situation in the different countries, the majority of them, close their eyes and only think in their own profits.
I have read some news with similar panorama and all these wars are focused in only two things: MONEY and POWER.
It is incredible the amount of years that these regions have to stay involved in wars, because is true, the business of weapons generate a lot of money and moreover it has so deep roots.
We can see an excellent example in our hands, Hamas has the control of Gaza and they do not agreed to cease-fire because they consider that this measure would benefit to Israel and this country continues killing civilian in Gaza. It is like a game, where the team who kill more people can win; this is terrible.
I think in these regions the people grow up with a kind of war culture, or perhaps by the big ignorance, or the power of influential “leaders”, but these poor people follow any order that the receive; imagine to cover their body with bombs, go to a specific place and active the explosives and finish with not only her or his live, if not many innocent women, men and children. That is so cruel.
That is why I can understand which is the concept of love of that people, how can they kill people and believe that they make that because God wants that situation occur. Only be crazy to think something like that.

ResponderBorrarTalk about this article is very difficult; because we have to put in context three basic lines of discussion; the first that we have to analyze is about the social context; the second line is the cultural context and how this kind of society see their reality; and finally we must talk about how the rest of the countries seen this problem.
For the fist line, we must analyze this conflict attending the way that they use to guide their life; and this is important because this society have ancestral values and principles that they can not negotiate with others; and they would rather die than go back to his enemies; so this situation is basic to understand the reasons that they have in order to resolve their conflict with their neighbors; for example the way across the region use power as an instrument to control society; and how they use the religion, le economy and their values to establish a real commitment to their causes.
Besides, the line that separates the social context from de cultural context is too thin; because this society use their history, their values and their ancestral background as a tools to involve everybody in their conflict, and they work in this kind of see the word since they are a child, so, when they become as an adult nobody can make a change in the way that they see the world, and all that is the reason because nobody find a solution; because both parts stand to gain in every possible way.
Finally, the international help is complicated because they do not like help, and less when it comes from developed countries; and the main reason is because they see this countries as a sick societies; so they prefer continue with their conflict; but they have to pay a big price for the decision of continue with the conflict, because many people are dying and nobody can see the real light at the end of the problem.
